The Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI), is at the forefront of imaging science and is the only centre of its kind in Australia. It provides world-class research and services: molecular characterisation with NMR, electron paramagnetic resonance; preclinical and human imaging with MRI, CT and PET; and radiolabelling of small molecules and antibodies for research with short-lived positron emitting radioisotopes. CAI's technologies support in vivo studies of health and disease, and imaging of agricultural, plant, mineral, and construction materials.
CAI collaborates with clinical research sites and local, national, and international research institutes, giving CAI an ‘end-to-end' biomedical imaging capability from laboratory research to clinical application. CAI is part of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.

Achievements of the centre
- Established the $3M ACRF Facility for Targeted Radiometals in Cancer.
- Launched the $15M ARC Hub for Advanced Manufacture of Targeted Radiopharmaceuticals (AMTAR).
- Continued national leadership through the Queensland node of the National Imaging Facility, providing world-class imaging infrastructure to researchers across Australia.
