Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre

The Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre (TAAHC) is an accredited NHMRC Research Translation Centre (RTC). We partner with Cairns and Hinterland (CHHHS), Mackay (MHHS), North West (NWHHS), Torres and Cape (TCHHS), and Townsville (THHS) Hospital and Health Services; the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN); the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC); and James Cook University (JCU).

Our vision is to improve health outcomes for rural, regional, and remote communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across northern Queensland. We do this through research and translation, generating practical, evidence‑informed solutions that strengthen services, address workforce challenges, and improve system performance.
