Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality

Building on our active sister state relationship, established in 1989, this agreement advances collaborative research and commercialisation opportunities with Shanghai – China’s leading business and research centre.

The current Memorandum of Understanding, renewed in November 2025 for a duration of 3 years, seeks to foster innovative collaborations which lead to scientific or technical products with commercial potential or deliver significant and demonstrable public benefit. These collaborative programs, projects or activities may include but are not limited to:

• interdisciplinary research projects including joint labs and joint research centres between Shanghai and Queensland universities and research institutions
• collaboration in supporting commercialisation, innovation and entrepreneurship
• bilateral conferences, symposia or meetings
• participation in specific education and training programs.
