Activities and resources

There are a wide range of science education and outreach activities run in Queensland.

Review the list of STEM learning opportunities covering Queensland opportunities for students of all ages, as well as resources for parents and teachers. Queensland students are able to access a diverse network of STEM providers and learning opportunities:

You can also check out the citizen science school teacher resources to see how to incorporate citizen science in the classroom, participate in a bioblitz or find Queensland citizen science projects or other resources.

We have designed three Awesome activity books for Years 3–6 school students that feature short profiles of scientists and fun activities selected by these scientists including STEM-based word puzzles, experiments, dot-to-dot and colouring-in. Students can select from editions published in 2022 (PDF, 6.6MB) , 2020 (PDF, 9.4MB) and 2017 (PDF, 19.3MB) .

If you (or your organisation) undertake science engagement with communities (including students), read about the Griffith University desktop review  on community science engagement to help guide your initiatives.

The aim of the Best Practice Principles for Community Science Engagement Programs (PDF, 2.3MB) review was to create support for anyone who intends on engaging with communities on science and wants to maximise the impact of their program or initiative. The accompanying Appendices (PDF, 742.1KB) provide a wealth of additional resources.
